Contract Scope

Scope

Provisions: Without limiting the Generality of the foregoing, the work to be provided by the contractor shall include the provision of all management, supervision, administration, technical expertise and support, skilled labor, materials, consumables, equipment, services, tools, plus each and every expense necessary, other than Stipulated in the Contract Documents as provided by the company, to complete the work of this contract.

Quality Assurance: Installation shall be of a type and quality of good industrial practice for reputable contractors.

Contractor shall ensure that the completed installation matches all construction drawings.

Unacceptable field conditions, modifications during installation must be Company approved by written communication and other non-conformances shall be thoroughly documented and recorded.

Safety: Consideration to safety and personnel protection shall be given to all aspects of installation of equipment.

Requirements of OH&S, local safety legislation, regulations and VALE corporate safety policies and procedures shall be fully complied with for this construction phase.

General Requirements:

The Contractor will be responsible for the field verification of dimensions, locations and clearances prior to commencing the work.

All interferences which directly or indirectly affect the required works of this project are to be communicated to the Company.

The Contractor is to take all necessary measures to complete the required works of the projects without interfering with the Company’s daily operations.

In cases where interferences cannot be avoided, Contractor and the Company will agree a schedule prior to commencing work.

The Contractor is responsible for submitting a complete Hardcopy set of marked-up As-Built drawings for Completed Projects.

Drawings are to be date stamped and signed-off by a Company Representative.

Products & Materials Supplied by the Contractor shall be New & shall meet all requirements of the Specifications.

MPEIW Scope: General description of anticipated Work to be Included in this Contract.

Detailed Scope of Work "Issued for Pricing" Packages will be handed to Contractors at Bidders Site Visit

MPEIW Projects:

1.   Water Balance Improvements: SIM Id 27209

a)    Install Pipeline to Standby Tailings Line from Waste Water and Tailings Pumps

                 i.    Project Description

It is the intent of VALE, NL to utilize the Existing Standby Tailings line to pump Waste Water from the Concentrator to Headwater Pond.

Accomplished through the Installation of new 8" diameter, Sch. 40 carbon steel pipe (OWNER Supplied) ALL Associated fittings (Contractor Supplied)

                               

                ii.    Brief Scope of Work to be performed by MPEIW Contractor

This project involves the Installation of 8" diameter, Sch. 40 carbon steel pipe (OWNER Supplied)

ALL associated fittings (Contractor Supplied) from the existing Tailings and Waste Water pump discharges to the Standby Tailings line at the end of the discharge tunnel from the Concentrator. 

The (OWNER Supplied) 8" diameter pipe is already insulated and has provisions for the installation of heat trace (heat trace to be installed from the tie-in-point to the Standby Tailings Line back to the entrance to the tunnel in the Concentrator). 

All associated fittings from the tie-in-point to the Standby Tailings Line back to the entrance to the tunnel in the Concentrator will be required to be insulated. 

All materials, labor for temporary & permanent pipe supporting is responsibility of the MPEIW Contractor

b)   Parallel Waste Water and Reclaim Water Lines

                 i.    Project Description

During the winter months, it is intended to use both the Reclaim and Waste Water HDPE surface lines to reclaim water from Headwater Pond. 

This will be accomplished through the Installation of Connection Piping at the Reclaim and Waste Water Pipelines at Headwater Pond and in the Concentrator.

                ii.    Brief Scope of Work to be performed by MPEIW Contractor

The MPEIW Contractor will be responsible to Supply and Install HDPE piping and ALL associated fittings to connect the existing Reclaim and Waste Water pipes at Headwater Pond. 

All new valving and fittings will be protected through the installation of two (2) Wooden Huts built from pressure treated lumber. 

In the Concentrator, the MPEIW Contractor will be responsible for the Supply and Installation of 8" diameter, Sch. 40 carbon steel piping and All associated fittings to allow for the connection of the Reclaim and Waste Water Lines.

c)    Hard Pipe Lime Addition to Tailings Tank

                 i.    Project Description

It is the intent to replace the temporary 1" diameter hose from the Lime Addition line to the Tailings Tank with 1" diameter, Sch. 40 carbon steel pipe.

                ii.    Brief Scope of Work to be performed by MPEIW Contractor

The MPEIW Contractor will be responsible to Supply and Install New 1" diameter, Sch. 40 carbon steel pipe and ALL associated fittings to allow for lime addition to the Tailings Tank. 

The temporary hose that is currently installed is to be removed and disposed of as per OWNER Waste Management Program.

2.   HVAC Improvements: SIM Id 27220

a)    SO2 Control in Load-Out

                 i.    Project Description

It is the intent to control the SO2 levels in the Larox Filter Room through the replacement of the existing exhaust fans in the Larox Filter Room, Loadout Area and Truck Loading Area in the Concentrator that are unable to develop the required static pressure to operate effectively.

                ii.    Brief Scope of Work to be performed by MPEIW Contractor

The MPEIW Contractor is responsible for the Supply and Installation of New exhaust fans in the Larox Filter Room, Loadout Area and Truck Loading Area to allow for proper ventilation of SO2 gases. 

As the New fans will have an increased horsepower, New starters, cabling and associated electrical components will be the responsibility of the MPEIW Contractor

The MPEIW Contractor is responsible for the removal and disposal of the existing fans as per the OWNER Waste Management Program.

b)   Blower Room sound proofing and heat exhaust

                 i.    Project Description

The intent of this project is to lower the temperature in the Blower Room and reduce the amount of noise in the surrounding area through the Installation of a New Cooling air system, and the sealing in and soundproofing of the blower room from the surrounding area in the Concentrator.

                ii.    Brief Scope of Work to be performed by MPEIW Contractor

The MPEIW Contractor will be responsible for the Supply and Installation of a New Cooling air system (complete with new exhaust fan, motorized dampers and associated ductwork) and will provide the labour and materials to seal in the existing Blower Room and install sound proofing material.              

c)    Compressor Room heat exhaust

                 i.    Project Description

The intent of this project is to reduce the amount of heat in the two Compressor Rooms in the Concentrator through the installation of additional cooling capacity.

                ii.    Brief Scope of Work to be performed by MPEIW Contractor

The MPEIW Contractor will be responsible for the Supply and Installation of a New compressor room cooling system. 

The system will be an Engineered Air System that will be located on the roof of the Concentrator.  

The MPEIW Contractor will be responsible for the ductwork, electrical requirements and commissioning of the New Cooling System.                   

d)   Replace Flotation Roof Fans

                 i.    Project Description

Due to Inaccessibility and maintenance concerns, it is the intent of the OWNER  to replace the existing four (4) roof exhaust fans.

                ii.    Brief Scope of Work to be performed by MPEIW Contractor

It is the responsibility of the MPEIW Contractor to Supply and Install four (4) new fiberglass low profile exhaust fans on the Concentrator roof.

3.   Concentrator Workplace Improvements: SIM Id 27212

a)    Access Platforms and Monorails

                 i.    Project Description

This project Includes the Installation of Access Platforms and Monorails at various locations throughout the job site to allow for safe access for personnel and access to equipment.

                ii.    Brief Scope of Work to be performed by MPEIW Contractor

Installation of 4 monorails in the Concentrator, swing gates on site ladders and access platforms for the Tripper Car and Scavenger Regrind density gauge.

b)   Eyewash Station and Safety Shower for Lime Screw Conveyor Area

                 i.    Project Description

There is currently no access to a safety shower in the Lime Screw Conveyor area of the Concentrator.

                ii.    Brief Scope of Work to be performed by MPEIW Contractor

Installation of a New Emergency Shower in the Lime Screw Conveyor Area.

c)    Conveyor Guarding – SAG Mill and Coarse Ore Feed Conveyor

                 i.    Project Description

The intent to install conveyor guarding on all site conveying systems that is in compliance with CSA-Z432 (Safe Guarding of Machinery) and ASME B20 (Safety Standard for Conveyors and Related Equipment). 

                ii.    Brief Scope of Work to be performed by MPEIW Contractor

The MPEIW Contractor is responsible for the Supply and Installation of Conveyor guarding for the top section of the SAG Mill and Coarse Ore Feed Conveyor.

d)   Install Guide Rails on concrete floor edges in Concentrator

                 i.    Project Description

There currently exists a safety concern that Mobile Equipment and Personnel could go over the edge of the concrete floor edges on the floor of the Concentrator.

                ii.    Brief Scope of Work to be performed by MPEIW Contractor

The MPEIW Contractor is responsible for the Supply and Installation of the materials required to install guide railing in the Concentrator.

e)    Install Second level Storage Platform in Existing Acid Room

                 i.    Project Description

The existing Concentrator Acid Room is currently used as a material storage area for maintenance parts. The area is currently congested and there is a requirement for additional storage capacity.

                ii.    Brief Scope of Work to be performed by MPEIW Contractor

The MPEIW Contractor is responsible for the Supply & Installation of the materials required to construct a New Second level Platform in the Existing Acid Room to allow for storage of maintenance parts.

f)     Add locker space and respiratory cleaning in Dry Locker Area

                 i.    Project Description

Currently exists a need for additional locker capacity in the Concentrator and an area for respirator cleaning.

                ii.    Brief Scope of Work to be performed by MPEIW Contractor

It is the intent of VALE, NL to Install additional locker capacity and a respirator cleaning area in the area entering the Concentrator from the Services Complex.

4.   Replace Port Office: SIM Id 28004

a)    Port Office Replacement Project:

                 i.    Project Description

      Replace the Existing Port Office Building with a New 3-Modular Building Consisting of:

      Offices/Washrooms/Lunchroom/Lockable Storage /Mechanical-Electrical room/ Emergency Shower.

                ii.    Brief Scope of Work to be performed by OWNER

Purchase & Coordinate the Installation of a New 3-Modular Constructed Building Consisting of:

      Offices/Washrooms/Lunchroom/Lockable Storage /Mechanical-Electrical room/ Emergency Shower

      The 3-Module Pre-Fab Building will be constructed on an Owner prepared Site with Septic Holding Tank

      Owner will be responsible for crib foundation

Owner will be responsible for Skirting around the New Building perimeter as Building is Elevated 1metre

               iii.    Brief Scope of Work to be performed by MPEIW Contractor

Contractor is responsible for connection of all Mechanical and Electrical Systems

      Contractor is responsible for connection of Sanitary Sewer Piping to Owner Supplied Septic holding tank

      All Mechanical and Electrical Systems shall be provided as per contract documents.

5.   Light Vehicle Shop Office: SIM Id 26685

a)    Light Vehicle Shop Office Replacement Project:

                 i.    Project Description

      Replace the Existing Light Vehicle Shop Office Building with a New 3-Modular Building Consisting of:

      Offices/Washrooms/Kitchen-Dining Area/Janitor Storage /Mud room/Men’s and Women’s Locker Rooms

                ii.    Brief Scope of Work to be performed by OWNER

Purchase and Coordinate the Installation of a New 3-Modular Constructed Building Consisting of:

      Offices/Washrooms/Kitchen-Dining Area/Janitor Storage /Mud room/Men’s and Women’s Locker Rooms

      The 3-Module Pre-Fab Building will be constructed on an Owner prepared Site with Septic Holding Tank

      Owner will be responsible for crib foundation

Owner will be responsible for Skirting around the New Building perimeter as Building is Elevated 1metre

               iii.    Brief Scope of Work to be performed by MPEIW Contractor

6.   Site Services Workplace Improvements: SIM Id 27212

a)    Replace Accommodation Eavestroughs:

                 i.    Project Description

Project includes supply & Installation of a continuous eavestrough system for Accommodations Complex. The system shall consist of gutter, down spouts, supports and all necessary fittings.  

                ii.    Brief Scope of Work to be performed by MPEIW Contractor

MPEIW Contractor is responsible for the Supply of All necessary labour, materials, tools and equipment to Install the detailed eavestrough system for the Voisey’s Bay Accommodations Complex.
