Contract Scope

<ol style="list-style-type: decimal; direction: ltr;"><li style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-style: normal; font-weight: bold;">INTRODUCTION As part of the Vale Newfoundland and Labrador (VNL) Voisey’s Bay mine site certificate of approval, VNL is required to establish an ambient air monitoring program to ensure that emission concentrations of prescribed air contaminants are less than the maximum permissible standards as set forth by the Air Pollution Control Regulations (2004). The data is collected and submitted to the Newfoundland and Labrador Department of Municipal Affairs and Environment (NLDMAE) monthly. Section 21 of the Air Pollution Control Regulations dictates that all measurements, recordings and analysis conducted must be performed by devices and methods acceptable to the NLDMAE. Ambient Air Monitoring shall be done in accordance with the Ambient Air Monitoring Guidance Document (GD-PPD-065). Currently, VNL operates three ambient air monitoring stations at the Voisey’s Bay Mine Site. A description of each monitoring station is outlined in the Table 1.1 below. SCOPE OF WORK</h1>This scope of work is to ensure VNL’s Voisey’s Bay mine site, located in Northern Labrador, is in compliance with the terms and conditions for conducting ambient air quality monitoring in Newfoundland and Labrador. Established through its monitoring requirements, VNL will remain consistent with all other ambient air monitoring stations, as required by the NLDMAE. In addition to the above, the Contractor will be required to provide certified annual or as required calibrations and servicing for Industrial Hygiene sampling equipment.This contract is scheduled to begin in 2018 and expire 2021.
