Vale Newfoundland & Labrador Limited (Vale NL) are inviting submissions of an Expression of Interest for a potential opportunity to support the Voisey’s Bay Mine Expansion Project in Voisey’s Bay, NL.

Scope of Work:  Vale is looking for a Principle Automation and IT Contractor (PAIC) to manage the complete life cycle of the following systems in support of the Voisey’s Bay Mine Expansion Project</p><p>1.         Process Control System </p><p>a.     Underground PCS</p><p>b.     Surface PCS</p><p>2.         Auxiliary Control Systems Integration</p><p>a.     Personnel and Equipment Location Tracking</p><p>b.     Mobile Equipment Data Capture (Vehicle Telemetry</p><p>c.     Drill Pattern Loading and Remote Monitoring</p><p>d.     Fire Detection System</p><p>e.     Alarm Management System</p><p>f.     Microseismic System</p><p>g.     Wireless Central Blasting System </p><p>h.     Ventilation Automation System & Field Devices</p><p>3.         Communications</p><p>a.         Telephony/Radio/Mobile Field Devices</p><p>b.         Networking</p><p>c.         Fiber</p><p>d.         WiFi</p><p>

This work encompasses the Functional Design, Detailed Engineering, Procurement Support, Construction Support, Commissioning and Startup Support.  

The PAIC shall demonstrate innovative solutions to fully integrate the systems listed above in order to design and deploy an effective control room for the underground mine.  Extensive underground experience is required to determine the communications strategy and achieve Vale’s target for rapid mine development.
